Associated costs of mitigation-driven translocation in small lizards

چکیده
Abstract Mitigation-driven translocations represent an increasingly common management solution to reduce animal mortality and habitat loss caused by human development. Although they currently outnumber other translocation types, there is a lack of scientific approaches evaluate the outcome this tool. We designed experimental with two groups translocated males control small (6-14 g) lizard (totaling 120 individuals). Our results suggest that individuals covered longer distances (53 vs. 18 m) from their respective release points in one month (on average), although distance diminished over time. Displacing was associated body condition impoverishment increase parasitization ectoparasites. To best our knowledge, first study finds positive relationship between covering number mites. This also explained initial mite load lizards had, suggesting controlling infestation mites energetically demanding for lizards, being traded locomotor activity. At least those poorer condition, we recommend implementation soft (gradually accustoming new environment previously releasing them into controlled conditions) deparasitization before accomplishing mitigation-driven translocation.

Behavioral thermoregulation in lizards: importance of associated costs.
The Puerto Rican lizard Anolis cristatellus behaviorally regulates body temperature in an open habitat but passively tolerates lower and more variable temperatures in an adjacent forest where basking sites are few and distant. Thermoregulation may be adaptive only when costs resulting from associated losses of time and energy are low.

Introduction: One of the serious complications of intra uterine device (IUD) is uterine perforation and translocation of it to abdominal organs. Translocation is usually accompanied with abdominal or pelvic pain and absence of string in vaginal examination. Therefore, it was decided to report an asymptomatic case of translocation of IUD to small bowel serosa with presence of string in vaginal e...
متن کاملSmall Firms and Offshore Software Outsourcing: High Transaction Costs and Their Mitigation
It seems surprising that small firms engage in offshore outsourcing given that they lack the resources that large firms possess to overcome the difficulties involved. We examine these factors using transaction cost theory’s three stages: contact costs, contract costs, and control costs. Then, using our field data from small client firms (in the United States and the United Kingdom), intermediar...

+Suffolk University, Boston *TD Ameritrade Abstract Abundant examples of complex transactionoriented networks (TONs) can be found in a variety of disciplines, including information and communication technology, finances, commodity trading, and real estate. A transaction in a TON is executed as a sequence of subtransactions associated with the network nodes, and is committed if every subtransa...
